Bonsall's Carli Lloyd named AVCA player of the year

Carli Lloyd closed out her college volleyball career with a loss in the NCAA Division I finals, but the day before the championship match the Cal senior and 2006 Fallbrook High School graduate was named as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA ) player of the year for 2010.

"That was a really exciting moment," Lloyd said. "I actually was not prepared for anything."

The AVCA awards banquet took place Dec. 17 in Kansas City, one day before Cal played in the finals against Penn State. "I had the match the next day on my mind," Lloyd said.
