Angel Society aids troubled teens, families, seniors

FALLBROOK – A total of $12,500 in giving to three local non-profit groups was approved by the board of directors of the Angel Society of Fallbrook at its September meeting.

The Oceanside-based Milestone House, a foster home for girls founded in 1992, will use funds granted to it to help provide around-the-clock care to the teens aged 13 to 17, many of whom suffer from histories of abuse, abandonment, molestation and neglect. A new program called “Fostering Adulthood” will also aid in their transition to adulthood.

A portion of the monies will also go to North County Solutions for Change, a group based in Vista, with homes in Fallbrook and other communities. The group aids homeless families in job searches, life skills, and other areas as they transition into permanent and affordable homes.

Foundation for Senior Care, which has served Fallbrook for 30 years, was also provided funds to address the needs of seniors in the community which are not supported by government funding or other private organizations. The group operates two Care Vans to transport seniors to medical and other appointments.

In other business, the Angel Society’s thrift shop was closed from Oct. 13 through 18 for renovations including painting, the installation of new flooring and carpeting, and the cleaning of all clothes racks and other fixtures. For more information, call (760) 728-6513.
