Angel Society approves June donations; 2012-13 officers named

FALLBROOK – A total of $8,300 in philanthropic contributions to non-profit groups was approved by the board of directors of the Angel Society of Fallbrook at its June meeting, and its 2012-13 officers were approved and named.

Fallbrook People to People Services, a local non-profit job placement agency to match the needs of seniors with the need of community members for employment, was awarded $3,000 of support from the organization.

Fallbrook Citizens’ Crime Prevention Committee, which provides educational presentations on crime prevention at no charge, and works with groups of at-risk pre-teen and early teen students to guide, advise, nurture and support them in a positive direction through the GANAS program, was awarded $3,000.

North County Health Service (NCHS) was awarded $2,000 to support volunteer health educators with gas cards to help with costs of getting to and from outreach locations and furnish them with glucose strips and other testing supplies for health screenings.

Eagle Scout candidate, Michael Zatlin, Jr., of Troop 755, in support of his project to construct and install seven sturdy directional signs at the REINS therapeutic horsemanship program facility, was awarded $300.

In other business, three new officers were installed to join those retaining their positions for a second year. The Angel Society’s 2012-13 officers are Marylyn Miller, president; Jennifer Anderson, 1st vice president; Lila Sandschulte, 2nd vice president/philanthropy; Nancy Chapman, 3rd vice president/membership; Sharon Daniels, treasurer; Gerri Ankerman, recording secretary; Fran White, Angel Shop chair; Barbara Loehnert, building maintenance chair; and Gloria Seelye, president ex officio/parliamentarian. The Angels also welcomed to the board three new members: Peggy Gausepohl, Lorrie Valeron, and Alex Wilson.
