New owners of Fallbrook Golf Club enthusiastic to please public

Last updated 11/8/2012 at Noon

Jack and Bonnie Lamberson, above, are the new owners of the Fallbrook Golf Club. They have lived in Fallbrook since 1983.

Jack and Bonnie Lamberson are the type of folks you instantly know will put their heart and soul into making a longtime, landmark business into a highly favored destination. It is that reason that residents can prepare to watch and enjoy the good things coming to Fallbrook Golf Club.

“We have a lot of plans and we think people will be happy,” Jack said.

The Lambersons have a large, loving family and have embraced the 44 staff members at the golf club in the same manner. They, in turn, have been welcomed with open arms.

“I just love being involved with the customers and the people that work here; that’s huge for me,” Bonnie said. “We have such a great group. I feel a business does much better when an owner is actively involved.”

“As far as I’m concerned, they are all irreplaceable,” Jack added.

After closing escrow on the property June 30 and taking possession July 1, the Lambersons began working on their new project by catching up on deferred maintenance items at the property.

“First, we have concentrated on getting the greens on the golf course in real good shape,” Jack said. “We had to do a lot of work to the watering system.”

Jack also said there were many items that needed to be addressed inside the clubhouse and restaurant. The tasks are being completed and checked off the list one by one.

Fifty brand new Yamaha golf carts are now in residence at the golf course. “We have gotten a lot of compliments on that,” Jack said, with a smile.

“We also have some improvements and expansions that we want to do,” he said, mentioning embellishing the patio areas, adding an outdoor fireplace, and large outdoor barbecue. “We also want to put pavers on the sidewalks to make them nicer and add more tables and chairs for outdoor dining.”

Fresh additions and changes to the club’s restaurant (Hukilau) menu will be coming, albeit gradually, after the holidays.

“We will approach that very gradually to make sure we are offering things that our customers are interested in,” Bonnie said. Currently, the focus is on the planning of the festive holiday meals that will be offered onsite.

One of the Lamberson’s grandsons, A.J. Lanari, also works at the golf club, as an administrative assistant. Lanari said he hopes more young adults find the positive changes attractive and use it more as a gathering place.

“I know a lot of the staff members here <at the club> from school,” A.J. said. “It’s a small community and it’s been easy for people to know who we are. Everyone seems more relaxed and they are getting to know my family.”

The Lambersons have had interaction with Fallbrook Golf Club for quite a while as they own two long-standing payroll companies, one of which handled the club’s payroll for the two and one-half years before they purchased it. So the staff has known of them for quite a while.

Not only has the couple appreciated the enthusiasm of the club’s staff in the change of ownership, but they have further empowered individuals to head up departments in order to insure smooth operations and good communication in all areas.

“We now have weekly meetings with our department heads and it works out great,” Bonnie enthused. “They have excellent ideas and we are trying to be sure they have everything they need to make customers happy.”

The value of genuine hospitality is evident in these new owners, and their approachability is very open.

“I love getting to know people and letting them get to know me. It’s going to be very positive,” Bonnie said.
