Boys & Girls Clubs of North County celebrate Boys & Girls Club’s Week

FALLBROOK As part of a campaign to bring awareness to the communities they serve, Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide participate in Boys & Girls Club week, a celebration of the programs they are using to help their members be great.

“A lot of our community knows that we provide our members with an excellent sports program,” said Brian Astredo, director of development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County. “However, key developmental programs like Homework Help, Music, Art, SMART Moves, and Healthy Habits go unnoticed.”

On Tuesday, March 10, the club held an Academic Decathlon that brought together “scholars” from all six of the local sites to play in a jeopardy-like competition.

On Wednesday, March 11, members put their skills to the test in various physical challenges like a 40-yard dash, potato sack race and a bubble gum challenge.

On Thursday, March 12, weeks of preparation culminated in an art show that showcased members’ creativity with exhibits in painting, drawing, photography and sculptures.

On Friday, March 13, their Boys & Girls Club week ended with a fun and exciting Color Run at Potter Junior High, followed by a delicious BBQ for the children.
