Boys & Girls Clubs celebrate National Boys & Girls Club’s Week

FALLBROOKThe Boys & Girls Clubs of North County joined with over 4,000 Clubs March 27 to 31 to promote Club awareness during National Boys & Girls Club Week. This nationwide movement shines a spotlight on the invaluable service the clubs bring to their local communities.

“Here in Fallbrook we are fortunate to serve nearly 1800 children each year,” said Brian Astredo, the director of development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County. “National Boys & Girls Club Week gives us the chance to give our community a small glimpse of the type of environment and the programs we provide our members every day.”

On Monday, March 27, members provided tours to guests to give them a first-hand look at all of the fun and creative activities they participate in every day.

On Tuesday, March 28, members from all seven after school sites participated in a Smoothie Challenge. Members came with their recipes and ingredients, and had to prepare their smoothies during the challenge.

On Wednesday, March 29, members participated in a Recycle Fashion Challenge. Recycled items and duct tape were used to create outfits for this creative fashion show. Members also had the opportunity to present their STEM projects to an audience of judges, staff and fellow members at the STEM Fair.

On Thursday, March 30, members from all seven after school sites worked together to present a Talent Showcase to an audience of their friends and family.

On Friday, March 31, National Boys & Girls Club week finished with a delicious BBQ treat for each of the club members followed by a good old fashioned Dodgeball Tournament.
