BREAKING: Pendleton controlled burns fill area with smoke

Smoke filled the Fallbrook area Saturday afternoon as a result of controlled fires on Camp Pendleton.

The controlled burns began Friday at about 9:30 a.m. in what is known as the November training area, said Camp Pendleton Sgt. Asia Sorenson.

Smoke from the fires is visible from Fallbrook, Sorenson said.
