Brandon Road temporarily closed to thru traffic

FALLBROOK – Due to tight road conditions and in an effort to speed up construction on the sewer pipeline replacement along Brandon and Alvarado roads, the County of San Diego has authorized temporary closure of Brandon Road until further notice, Noelle Denke of the Fallbrook Public Utility District reported today (Oct. 27) . The Brandon closure is likely to go until approximately Nov. 1.

The project, which began in September at Main Ave. and Alvarado Road, is one month ahead of schedule. It is set to go through January but could potentially finish earlier.

Construction crews are replacing aging sewer pipes there. The pipes were laid in the early 1950s and are now undersized and in need of replacement. They are part of the original sewer system for the historic downtown village.

The water and sewer service of the business owners have not been affected during construction.

Construction crews have worked closely with the businesses to work around scheduled deliveries and other store events. They clean up the asphalt daily so cars traveling after work hours are not showered with sand or bits of rock.

Updates can be found on the district’s website, www.fpud.com.
