Local nonprofits encouraged to apply for grants

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization is now accepting applications for 2018 grants.

Since 1956, CECO has been funding local nonprofit programs, addressing the diverse needs in the San Diego region. The grant instructions and application form is available at www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/ceco/apply_for_grant.html.

In 2017, CECO distributed $178,629 amongst 96 local nonprofit programs. As an indication of the variety, they included awards to Able-Disabled Advocacy, Coastal Roots Farm, Family Health Centers of San Diego, Musicians for Education and Somali Bantu Association of America. A complete list can be found at www.sdceco.org.

CECO typically funds tangible items such as equipment, furnishings and other durable goods that directly benefit the population being served by the program.

CECO is funded by the generosity of the employees and retirees of the county of San Diego. The local community receives 100 percent of any contribution made. Questions pertaining to the grant application and the allocation process can be directed to [email protected]. Grant applications must be received no later than 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17.
