Temecula Valley Hospital earns 'A' grade for third time in a row

TEMECULA – The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit health care ratings organization, released the new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades in October. Temecula Valley Hospital was one of 48 hospitals in California to receive an “A” three times in a row for its commitment to keeping patients safe and for meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.

The safety grade assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.

“We are very pleased that this is the third time in a row that we have received the ‘A’ rating from Leapfrog,” Darlene Wetton, CEO of Temecula Valley Hospital, said. “Receiving an ‘A’ demonstrates the commitment and high standards of care that our physicians and staff provide to the community. Patient safety is a very important priority to us at Temecula Valley Hospital.”

Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
