Fallbrook High School's Isai Soto is elected 2018-2019 FFA southern region president

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook High School junior Isai Soto has been elected as the 2018-2019 Future Farmers of America southern region president, FHS agriculture teacher Meaghan Alvarez said.

Soto became involved in the Fallbrook FFA because he desired to raise a market swine animal for the San Diego County Fair. Soto ran for an FFA chapter officer and section office before running for regional office.

In his pursuit of regional office, Soto first had to submit an application and go through an interview process. He was chosen as a candidate for the position of president, and he delivered a speech, April 7, at California Polytechnic University Pomona to more than 400 FFA members of the southern region. Following his speech, Soto answered impromptu questions in front of the audience.

After hearing from both candidates for southern region president, delegates from 60 different schools from across southern California voted for their pick. Soto was elected.

Soto and a team of six other elected FFA members will spend the next year helping more than 14,000 members in the southern region on their journey to premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
