Art association welcomes pastel artist Stonick to May 19 meeting

FALLBROOK – The public is invited to the Fallbrook Art Association meeting 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Fallbrook Women's Club, 238 W. Mission Road, in Fallbrook. The meeting will include a critique by the guest artist for members' paintings, one work each, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., followed by artist Lyndelle Stonick demonstrating a painting in pastels.

Stonick has excelled as an artist in drawing, painting and printmaking and as a fine jeweler. She has been gifted with a talent for art since early childhood and won her first award at age 10, which was soon followed by countless First Place and Best of Show ribbons.

Stonick is an honors graduate from California State University Fullerton, majoring in fine art. While studying for her master's degree, Fidelity Arts of Beverly Hills purchased and sold an edition of her prints nationwide. Stonick has been an exhibitor at the prestigious Laguna Beach Festival of Arts for seven years. Her work has been shown internationally, in prominent galleries as well as in art institutes and museums in California.

Stonick has competed in plein air competitions and won first place at Borrego Invitational and Paint San Clemente. Her passion for the pastel medium inspired her to become founder and first president of the United Society of Pastel Artists in Southern California.

After Stonick's demonstration, she will conduct a pastels workshop, 1-4 p.m., which is open to both beginners and advanced painters, members and non-members. The cost for members is $40, with $35 going to the artist and $5 to the association, and the cost for non-members is $50 with $45 going to the artist and $5 to the association. To register, call Carol Reardon at (760) 731-6677. Participants need to register in advance by sending in checks to reserve a spot. Reardon will email a list of supplies to bring and the class agenda.
