Gallery seeks 'A Dog and Pony Show' entries

FALLBROOK – Brandon Gallery is seeking entries for "A Dog & Pony Show,"

Aug. 4-25, an open show judged by Hajime Ohno.

The show will celebrate all of the animal companions that are a part of families, work and people's lives. The gallery is seeking works with dogs, cats, ponies, birds, goats, fish and other animals that enrich people's lives – those wonderful buddies everyone loves.

"Quite often, while working on a project we discover something – something new, something different or something that 'works' for no apparent reason," Ohno said. "And if we can successfully incorporate that chance discovery into our art, we have something precious to share with the viewers. That's what I try to achieve in pet portraits."

Work may be any medium. 2-D work may be no larger than 30 inches on any side, including frame, and weigh no more than 25 pounds. Wire hangers only, ends wrapped for safety. 3-D work may be no larger than 18 inches on any side, weigh no more than 25 pounds and must have a stable base when set on a flat surface.

Brandon Gallery reserves the right to decline any entry that does not meet accepted criteria, standards or quality for the gallery. Submission is in person only, at Brandon Gallery. Important details to note: artists must deliver artwork to gallery, July 28, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m .; the opening reception is Aug. 4, 5 to 7 p.m .; artists must pick up any unsold work, Aug. 25, 1 to 4 p.m. and the entry fees are $25 for one entry, $35 for two entries and $45 for three or four entries.
