'Hotel Transylvania 3' tops at the box office

The latest animated adventure of Dracula, the Mummy, and Frankenstein's monster led the way at North American theaters over the weekend, spoiling the debut of Dwayne Johnson's latest action thriller, according to final figures released today.

"Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation" opened atop the box office, earning $44.1 million, according to comScore.

Disney's "Ant-Man and The Wasp'' took second place with $29.1 million, while Johnson's disaster-movie homage "Skyscraper'' debuted in third place with $24.9 million.

Disney's "Incredibles 2'' also continued to be a force, earning another $16.3 million over the weekend to give it a five-week haul of $535.9 million. "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'' also padded its box office stats, collecting $16.2 million between Friday and Sunday to give it a four-week take of $364 million.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were "The First Purge'' ($9.3 million); "Sorry To Bother You'' ($4.2 million); "Sicario: Day of the Soldado'' ($3.9 million); "Uncle Drew'' ($3.2 million); and "Ocean's 8'' ($2.9 million).
