Angel Society installs new officers, approve donations

FALLBROOK – The Angel Society's officers for 2018-2019 were installed at the June meeting of the board of directors. The meeting was hosted by Cheryl Clinite at the Rancho Monserate club house. She was assisted by her committee of Judy Igoe, Louise Small and Marilyn Wertz.

The board approved $21,200 for donations to support local organizations benefiting the community.

The Fallbrook Land Conservancy was awarded $10,000 to help sponsor Stagecoach Sunday, an annual family fundraiser that promotes environmental education.

The Fallbrook Food Pantry received $8,000 in funds to help purchase food and meet operating expenses. The organization aids an estimated 335 families with weekly distributions of food, 250 individuals with monthly distributions and more than 210 individuals on an emergency basis monthly.

The amount of $2,000 was donated to Save Our Forest to help replace benches along Main Street and fund other operating expenses.

Donations of $500 each were approved for the Fallbrook Youth Soccer League and the Fallbrook Union High School water polo team and Boy Scout Troop 725 to assist an Eagle Scout with his project benefiting REINS.

Several non-monetary donations were also distributed in June, including 63 gowns, 20 men's suits, 15 pairs of shoes and 12 purses processed by Joan McDowell, Chris Hawranik and Joyce Wood for the Armed Forces YMCA to be given to military families.

The Angel Society raises funds through the operation of the Angel Shop, a thrift store managed entirely by volunteers. It is located at 1002 S. Main Avenue. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information, visit http://www.theangelsociety.org.
