Summergrass offers bluegrass music and more

VISTA – Summergrass San Diego is celebrating its 16th year Aug. 17 –19 at the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum, 2040 N. Santa Fe Rd, in Vista. Each year the band lineup is stellar and this year is no exception.

Top touring bands coming to the stage include Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers and Alan Bibey & Grasstowne which is also the Kids Camp faculty band.

The Scroggins Brothers will provide a “bluegrass explosion” with their powerful, performance and world-class playing that thrill their fans. And Bluegrass Etc. will dazzle their fans as they have for many years with bluegrass and much more.

Summergrass proudly features a host of California regional and local talent, too. The California bands reflect the on-point talent that is right here in this state and this year they include The Corzines, Virtual Strangers, Blue Creek, Shinbone, High Mountain Road and Bluegrass Brethren. There are also two newcomers from Northern California – The Central Valley Boys and the GillyGirls.

From their coordinated suits to their music, the Central Valley Boys deliver down home country and bluegrass at its finest – honest and no frills, just great bluegrass. And the GillyGirls from the foothills of the Sierra Mountains, bring tight family harmonies, and a stage presence to steal one's heart.

The ever popular Summergrass raffle includes a beautiful hand-picked Martin D-35 guitar with case, a Deering Goodtime Banjo with gig bag, and a Loar mandolin from The Music Link. Raffle tickets are affordable and available at Summergrass.

Great workshops are also happening at Summergrass 2018 and are free with the price of admission. Examples of workshops are our Get Acquainted Jam, the Slow Jam, Meet the Bands, Mountain Dulcimer, and Fun Music Theory for Bluegrass, Other workshops to be added soon. And, for the children, Sugar Bear the Clown will also be doing face-painting.
