Fallbrook High hosts Pop Warner players

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook High School hosted a camp for the Fallbrook Pop Warner athletes July 16-19. Fallbrook High football coaches worked with the youngsters on skills and drills.

"If you had the chance to participate in the youth football combine, hosted by Fallbrook High School, then you can imagine how great it was spending a week with the Fallbrook High coaches as they prepared the kids for the upcoming season," said Erik Benitez, president of Fallbrook Pop Warner. "This was an awesome way to get the athletes off the gaming systems and onto the field to sweat it out."

The kids went through offensive and defensive drills, working on footwork, speed and tackling from 3 to 6 p.m. each day of the camp. The high school coaches enjoyed working with younger players for a change

"It was fun working with the energy and enthusiasm of the younger players – it is so different from the high school athletes," said coach Martin.

The event was a success with the high school boosters donating $400 of the proceeds back to the Fallbrook Pop Warner League, which will pay for new pads on a tackling sled used by the junior varsity Pop Warner team.
