FALLBROOK – Lucy Taylor was born on August 19, 1928. Although born in Alabama, she originally moved to Fallbrook in the 60s with her husband and five of her children and soon realized it is the only place that would ever be home to her.

Taylor is known for her volunteer work and her joyful spirit. Over the last 35 years, she has served as a Pink Lady, courier driver and chaplain of the former Fallbrook Hospital as well as the Skilled Nursing Facility where she became known for her delicious homemade cakes.

After the closure of Fallbrook Hospital, she began baking and delivering her cakes to various businesses in town all with a smile and more than likely while singing.

The mother of 10 children, 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, Taylor will be celebrated by her family on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Those that know her are invited to stop by and enjoy some cake (sorry, she is not baking this one) in her honor at the Fallbrook Women's Club, 238 W. Mission Road.
