Rady Children's Murrieta Medical Plaza celebrates grand opening

SAN DIEGO – With many new services up and running and more to come, Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego is offering an enhanced level of outpatient pediatric care to families in southwest Riverside County through its comprehensive medical plaza in Murrieta.

Located just off Interstate 215 at Hancock Avenue, Rady Children's Medical Plaza will both consolidate existing outpatient services and provide new options for area families. Patients will have access to many specialty services through Rady Children's Specialists of San Diego, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, maternal-fetal medicine from the San Diego Perinatal Center, nephrology, ophthalmology, orthopedics and scoliosis, otolaryngology or ear, nose, throat, pediatric surgery consultations, pulmonary and respiratory medicine, radiology, rehabilitation medicine, rheumatology, sports medicine and urology.

Other services in the building include pediatric primary care through Children's Primary Care Medical Group.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide expanded services to children and families in the community where they live," Dr. Donald Kearns, president and CEO of Rady Children's. "Our goal is to deliver a superior level of care and service to this vibrant community."

In addition, a host of new developmental services and clinics, such as the Autism Discovery Institute, speech-language pathology, the Developmental Evaluation Clinic and the High-Risk Infant Follow-Up Clinic, are already open to patients. A second location of the innovative Alexa's Playful Learning Academy for Young Children is slated to open Sept. 4. Alexa's PLAYC is a unique early education program providing toddlers and preschool-age children with a warm and loving environment that stimulates physical, social, intellectual and emotional growth, including treatment for those with autism spectrum disorder. Future plans also include an on-site urgent care facility.

Community members of all ages toured the new facility at a grand opening celebration, Aug. 11. Parents and children had the chance to explore clinics, connect with Medical Plaza staff and other Rady Children's experts and enjoy some fun and games along the way.
