MRCD announces organizational changes

FALLBROOK – Mission Resource Conservation District has been in the Fallbrook community since its founding in 1944. The purpose of the organization has always been to educate landowners and the public about resource conservation.

District manager Judith Mitchell retired July 20. Mitchell began her career with the MRCD 32 years ago, and during her service, she led her team through many significant development initiatives. In turn, these developments have aided in the beneficial changes that the organization and community have seen during her time of service.

MRCD announced the recent hire of the newly appointed district manager, Courtney Provo. Provo and her husband, Chad, decided to relocate to Fallbrook in 2012 where they live with their two young sons, Jackson, 6, and Grayson, 3, as well as with their two huskies, Kuma and Koga. They share a love for the community in which they reside and understand the uniqueness of the area that they have chosen to live and raise their family.

Over the past 10 years, Provo has been involved in the legal industry and completed her graduate degree in public administration in 2017. She said she is eager to get started on her work with the district with continued success and positive impact.

"I am looking forward to many introductions within the community and forming valuable partnerships to help carry out the mission of the district, which has always been to provide technical and educational resources to the community in an effort to promote conservation of local resources," Provo said.

In addition, MRCD announced its relocation to their first permanent building. MRCD has secured a storefront in downtown Fallbrook, located at 130 E. Alvarado Street. The new location will allow the district to increase its visibility and to provide commercial and residential landowners the technical expertise and education in conservation efforts.

Finally, the district announced the availability of two seats with the board, which will be available November 2018. For any individuals interested in serving on the board, visit https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/cob/bcac.html for the application.
