Lois Maney Amoroso

Lois Maney Amoroso of Cherokee, North Carolina, born to Cecil and Mamie Gibson Maney, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at her home in Richmond, Kentucky.

A dedicated civil servant, she ended her career at Bluegrass Army Depot after serving the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy from the Naval Weapons Station, Fallbrook. She took great pride in her work knowing that it helped not only her first Love and son, but every mother's son and first love.

She is survived by her two doting sons, George Douglas and Jessie Daniel and beloved son-in-law, Michael Majoulet. Lois wore many hats, Daughter, Sister, Mother, Aunt, Cousin.

Being blessed with friends who were family and family that were friends, Momma had many monikers. Ms. Lois, Aunt Lossy, Niece, Sissy, Momma'oroso, Lois'y Honey, Peabody, and Louie are but a few.

She knew how to laugh at the worst jokes and tell the most brutal truths. In her waning months she took great pleasure in sitting on the porch with many she adored, drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes and watching her birds, my squirrels and Goofy's rabbit.

As the 1965 graduates of Belaire H.S. in Maryland stated, "What we keep is lost; what we give is ours forever." Lois Maney Amoroso will be remembered for her southern sass, smiling eyes, soft touch and a most gracious and generous soul.

Memorial service will be held at Gillum's 830 Eastern Bypass, Richmond, KY, on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 1 until 3 p.m. http://www.orpfh.com
