Intruder ransacks North County home occupied by a 9-year-old boy

VISTA - A man in a superhero T-shirt barged into a North County home occupied by a 9-year-old boy on Wednesday, Sept. 19 and ransacked the residence before escaping into the neighborhood.

The child was alone in the house in the 2600 block of Seacrest Court in Vista when the stranger entered through a rear sliding-glass door and began throwing household items around about 9:30 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The child went into the garage to hide, after which the intruder exited the home and walked away to the east. The boy then ran to a neighbor's house and asked for help.

Deputies searched the neighborhood by ground and aboard a patrol helicopter but were unable to find the burglar, described as a short-haired man in his mid-20s, wearing brown shorts, a blue Captain America shirt and a bandage on one of his knees.
