CECO offers grants to support local charities

SAN DIEGO – San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization is now accepting applications for 2019 CECO grants.

CECO funds local nonprofit programs through the generosity of county employees who make voluntary donations to CECO throughout the year. The grant instructions and application are now available at http://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/ceco/apply_for_grant.html.

CECO’s mission is to provide county employees and retirees an opportunity to lend a hand to local nonprofit organizations that provide health, recreation and human care services. In March 2018, CECO distributed $167,990 amongst 100 local nonprofit programs, including Alpha Project for the Homeless, Coastal Roots Farm, Interfaith Community Services, San Ysidro Health and Tariq Khamisa Foundation. A complete list can be found at http://www.sdceco.org.

CECO typically funds tangible goods such as equipment, furnishings and other durable goods that directly benefit the population being served by the program.

CECO is run by employees and has served as the charitable arm of the county since 1956. One hundred percent of contributions are redirected to the local community, and it has distributed more than $6 million since its inception. Questions pertaining to the grant application or allocation process can be directed to http://[email protected]. Grant applications must be received no later than 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2.
