The Outstanding Senior Boy and Outstanding Senior Girl awards are given to seniors who embrace Fallbrook High School's commitment to academic excellence and school traditions and who represent the school in the community.

Students apply for the award and are chosen by an anonymous group of staff members. The winners receive $500 scholarships.

The Outstanding Senior Boy award was started as a way of recognizing young men at FHS who are involved in their school and community and who possess great pride and potential.

The top three senior boys for 2018 are Caleb Marroquin, Carlos Mejia and Isai Soto. They have been leaders within the classroom, participate in Fallbrook athletics, represent FHS at state events and volunteer in the community.

The 2018 Senior Boy has played a huge role in the instrumental music program. He was selected as head drum major for both his junior and senior years and has played in the FHS jazz band, concert band and marching band. He has maintained at least a 4.0 GPA all four years, volunteers at his church and has participated in multiple mission trips.

Fallbrook High School has now chosen their 2018 Senior Boy of the Year – Caleb Marroquin.

The Outstanding Senior Girl Award was started in 1960 as a way to honor young women who demonstrated a great deal of school spirit and involvement, as well as involvement in the community. In 1964, Fallbrook High School student Jackie Vix was honored for her drive, enthusiasm, school pride and spirit. Vix was in a car accident in 1973 and died. A memorial fund and award was established in her name to keep her spirit and Fallbrook pride alive.

The top three senior girls for 2018 are Kendra Donaghue, Vanessa Hernandez and Audrey Petersen. These girls have volunteered countless hours in the community, excelled academically, represented FHS in sports, taken student leadership roles and taken internships.

School staff said they know that this year's recipient will live up to the legacy of Jackie Vix. She has been involved in Spirit House Leadership, played soccer, been a member of the School Site Council and California Scholarship Federation and taken an active role in the Fallbrook Youth Advocacy Coalition. She has participated in the Pathmakers Internship at Palomar Hospital.

Fallbrook High School has now chosen their 2018 Senior Girl of the Year – Vanessa Hernandez.
