Motorcyclist badly hurt by falling tree in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK - A motorcyclist was gravely injured on Friday, March 8 when a large wind-buffeted tree toppled onto him as he was riding in Fallbrook.

The freak traffic accident occurred near the intersection of West Elder Street and South Mission Road in Fallbrook shortly after 2 p.m., according to the North County Fire Protection District.

Medics airlifted the man to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of life-threatening injuries, NCFPD Capt. John Choi said.

Two other large trees also fell amid high winds in Fallbrook over the early to mid-afternoon, the fire captain said. Those mishaps caused no injuries, he said.
