Drive safely in San Diego and be rewarded with Hyperdrive Rewards

SAN DIEGO – Local Media San Diego, the innovative radio broadcasting company behind three of San Diego’s premiere radio stations, 91X XTRA-FM, Z90.3 XHTZ-FM and Magic 92.5 XHRM-FM, announced a partnership with ConnectedTravel to launch the HyperDrive Rewards mobile application, in an attempt to make the city’s roads safer to drive.

HyperDrive Rewards is a free application that helps users learn about their driving routines and offers rewards for every day safe driving. Up to $75,000 in cash prizes and rewards is being given away to new and daily HyperDrive Rewards app users for the launch campaign.

HyperDrive Rewards tells drivers when and where they speed, how often they use their phone, how they accelerate and how they brake. Drivers earn points with safe driving habits and additional bonus points for improving their driving by completing various challenges such as not speeding, no phone handling, limiting rapid acceleration and hard braking and driving under safe conditions. Other point-earning methods include completing in-app surveys, visiting designated websites, watching videos and playing the in-app games. It also enables them to compete against other drivers.

Every participating driver can redeem the points they earned for gift cards at retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, Apple and Amazon. Every driver also has a chance to compete with other drivers to win weekly cash prizes of $1,000.00 and gas cards valued at $150.

“The Hyperdrive app is a big step to improving driving habits in San Diego,” Gregg Wolfson, the vice president and general manager of Local Media San Diego, said. “We believe the reward system for better driving is a better alternative than receiving a moving vehicle citation.”

According to San Diego Police Department data, the city saw an 80 percent increase in distracted driving citations in 2017, including a 346 percent increase in tickets given to motorists who were texting while driving. HyperDrive Rewards aims to change for the better by encouraging San Diego drivers to drive safer and be rewarded for their positive habits.

“We are very excited about this partnership and being able to introduce a platform that will encourage safer driving habits amongst San Diego residents,” Bryan Biniak, CEO of ConnectedTravel, said. “With traffic accidents on the rise and more people getting hurt, we are proud to be able to offer a solution that makes safe driving rewarding.”

HyperDrive Rewards is available to download on the Apple App Store and Goolge’s Play store.
