Re: 'Affordable Care Act – revisit ad absurdum' [Village News Terrell letter, 5/9/19]

First off, the name is deceiving, it is not affordable and is horrible coverage. Do not be duped into believing that “Medicare for all” is the answer. Spoiler alert: It is nothing but socialized medicine run by the government. Former President Barack Obama’s health care law was a failure and will always be a failure.

People believe our health care is flawed because the insurance company is involved. At least I can sue my insurance company, try suing the government. Medicare is rationed now for many of our elderly, – they’ve served their useful time.

The VA is a perfect example of what is broken in the government-run health care system. I have firsthand experience with the VA and my dad. We hear horrible stories all the time of what the VA employees have done to our military who have served this wonderful nation. You can’t even fire those horrible employees who abused our military who died waiting to get an appointment. That in itself should be a crime.

I also have firsthand experience of a friend on MediCal and Medicaid who had no insurance and no money in the bank because of foolish liberal decisions he made in life. If you have any tangible real assets whatsoever, they become the property of the government in exchange for that medical care. They will take your house if you own them.

I compared “Obamacare” to my existing Kaiser plan, and even though I would qualify for a much cheaper monthly payment, I chose to stay with Kaiser because at least it covered something.

I have faith that President Donald Trump and the Republicans will come up with a much better plan than socialized medicine. Why do people from other countries come here for their health care? Because we have the best there is that needs some improvement.

Let’s cap the amount lawyers can bleed from any damage awarded a client and patient. That would help the outrageous amount these doctors pay in malpractice insurance that is passed along to my premium. You can bet the Democrats will “read” this health care bill just so they can pick apart the Republicans. Hey, Nancy Pelosi, I think we need to pass this bill so we can see what’s in it.
