Locals enjoy wine, brews and blues at Rotary fundraiser

BONSALL – The 24th annual Bonsall Rotary Wine, Brews and Blues Festival was held June 15. This year, the event was brought back into town, to Pala Mesa Resort and Golf Club.

This local event, which has been a huge success every year for the past 24 years, did not disappoint that night. This year’s attendees enjoyed sampling food from nine local restaurants, wine tasting from over 40 wineries and six breweries, plus live music provided by Bill Magee.

The Rotary Club of Bonsall raised $50,000 and netted over $25,000 which will be used to support local charities.

The Rotary Club of Bonsall is part of Rotary International, a local group of men and women in the Bonsall that is dedicated to giving back to its local community. This is its biggest fundraiser and the funds are used to support education and those less fortunate.

This past year, the group supported the Fallbrook 4H club with a $5,000 and gave away $5,000 to two seniors at Bonsall High School. It also supports many other local charities such as REINS Therapeutic Horsemanship Program and the Bonsall Education Foundation.

Rotary prides itself on “service above self,” and is committed to making a difference in education for local communities. The Rotary Club of Bonsall Club meets every Thursday morning at the Pala Mesa Resort and Golf Club for a breakfast meeting at 7:30 a.m.

Each week the meetings will have guest speakers to keep members informed on important local issues. Honored guests have included Supervisor Jim Desmond, San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan and other local leaders. Speakers discuss issues from public policy on a wide range of issues that affect the local community and businesses.
