Second annual Fallbrook Writers' Conference launches registration

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Library and Writers Read, a monthly author and open mic series, announced the second annual Fallbrook Writers’ Conference. The free, one-day event will be held at the library, Sunday, Sept. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For aspiring writers of fiction, nonfiction and creative nonfiction, the Fallbrook Writers’ Conference will offer workshops and presentations on writing craft from authors in a spectrum of genres. There will also be opportunities to pitch manuscripts and book concepts to literary agents, guidance on promoting “author brand,” and time to enjoy the camaraderie of diverse authors and fellow writers in small groups over lunch – be sure to bring a lunch.

Registration is limited to 100 conferees and begins July 10 at noon. Visit http://www.fallbrookwritersconference.eventbrite.com for free conference tickets, Fast Pitch sessions with literary agents, one-on-one meetings with authors and lunch-with-an-author opportunities.

Unlike many such conferences, the Fallbrook Writers’ Conference is free, thanks to the generosity of Friends of the Fallbrook Library and the San Diego County Library system.

“We’re grateful for the second year of support from the Friends of the Fallbrook Library,” Library Branch Manager Kris Jorgensen said. “The first Fallbrook Writers Conference last September was a great success, and we’re looking forward to fine tuning the effort this September. Our Southern California authors, literary agents and marketing professionals help make the event a wonderful resource for our town and the vibrant literary community that grows here.”

Presenting authors include Huda Al-Marashi, memoir; Mickey Brent, romance novels; Jonathan Maberry, multiple fiction genres and comic books; Sara Marchant, memoir and fiction; Laura McNeal, adult and young adult fiction; Gary Phillips, mystery and graphic novels; David Putnam, mystery, and Marivi Soliven, fiction.

Participating Literary agents include Elise Capron of Sandra Dijkstra Literary Agency; Dara Hyde of Hill Nadell Literary Agency; Jill Marr of Sandra Dijkstra Literary Agency; and Patricia Nelson of Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.

And Fauzia Burke from FSB Associates will present on building author platforms.
