'Whimsical' art to be on display at Fallbrook Library

FALLBROOK – The Friends of the Fallbrook Library announce two new "whimsical" art exhibitions, "Pet Portraits" in the Community Room and "Robot Sculptures" on the Reading Patio, on display from July 14 to Sept. 6. An artists' reception will be held Friday, July 19, from 6-8 p.m.

Pets are a favorite subject, whether it's capturing their expressive natures, gazing at their owners, in repose or playing games. All media is represented in this exhibit: photography, watercolor, acrylic and oils.

Selected professional artists have crafted portraits of dogs, cats, horses, bunnies and birds for all ages to enjoy. They are Geeta Pattanaik, Leslie Sweetland, Bonnie Rinier, Tamra Gerard, Collette Passini, Vicki Meadows, Vicki Pedersen, Darlene Katz, Kim Brandon-Watson, Hajimé Ohno, Bob Kaler, Carol Zaleski and Patricia Hunter.

Jim Behrman has been fabricating sculpture from found objects for over a decade. His robots on the Reading Patio are created from old household objects and electrical items.

"It's exciting creating something cool from junk," Behrman said.

Meet the artists at the artists' reception. Live music and light bites will be offered, and it's free and open to everyone. Pets on leashes can bring their humans to the outdoor patio, but not inside the library, if well behaved. The Fallbrook Library is located at 124 S. Mission Road.
