More than just the "Kenny-G sax," it's S-TET Quartet!

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Music Society begins its 42nd annual concert season SundaySunday, Aug. 25, at the Fallbrook Public Library with S-TET Saxophone Quartet, a unique ensemble that showcases not just the infamous soprano saxophone, but all four saxophones.

Formed by virtuoso musicians from Los Angeles and San Diego, S-TET is armed with brilliant technique, wide-ranging talent and exquisite showmanship.

"Fallbrook Music Society has spent the last 12 months working hard to build new audiences and reach music lovers of all genres. I am especially thrilled to partner with S-TET Quartet to open our season, as these musicians perform on the full range of saxophones, rarely heard in main stream classical music formats. This will be quite a concert," said Bob Freaney, president of the FMS Board of Directors.

A program preview begins at 2:30 p.m. which will provide an introduction to the various saxophones, with the concert starting at 3 p.m. The performance is free and open to the general public. No tickets are required.

S-TET Quartet consists of four members, Michael Couper (soprano saxophone), Ben Sorrell (alto saxophone), Brad Nash (tenor saxophone) and Todd Rewoldt (baritone saxophone).

Individually each musician is a distinguished soloist and chamber music artist who performs nationally and internationally. In addition to performing, they are dedicated teachers that serve on the faculties of SDSU, Cal State San Bernardino, and Cal State Northridge.

They each have active studios where they teach private lessons, coach chamber music, and mentor the next generation of emerging musical artists. The Quartet's unique blending of innovative and diverse programming, along with informational narrative, will provide a musical journey that encompasses the complete sound spectrum of the saxophone.

Repertoire includes selections from Debussy, Puccini, Rimsky-Korsakov along with more contemporary works from Philip Glass and Caryl Florio.

"S-TET is delivering one of our most unique programs to date and it will be especially fun and enlightening for those who don't know much about the saxophone as an instrument," added Freaney.

The Fallbrook Public Library is located at 124 South Mission Road. More information is available at FallbrookMusicSociety.org or by calling Fallbrook Music Society at (760) 451-8644.
