Plant-based foods can help people with Parkinson's

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Parkinson Support Group will hold their monthly meeting, Friday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Fellowship Hall of Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1620 S. Stage Coach Lane.

This month’s speakers, Teresa Kitchens and Vanessa Leschak, nutritional therapists and chefs, presenting “Parkinson's Disease Nutrition – You Are What You Eat: An introduction to the benefits of a plant-based diet for people with Parkinson's."

Kitchens and partner Leschak founded a nonprofit organization based in Tuscon, Arizona.

As certified nutritionists and chefs specializing in Parkinson's diet, they educate groups and individuals on the importance of nutrition, diet and impacting disease. They offer community talks, cooking classes, one-on-one consultation, food demonstrations, shopping, menu planning and meal delivery services.

Break out groups held for a time of sharing, coffee and refreshments will follow the program. The meeting is held in support of people with Parkinson's disease, care partners and people interested in improving the world of those affected by Parkinson’s disease.

Fallbrook Parkinson's Support Group is an affiliate group of North County Parkinson's Support Group, http://www.NCPSG.org. Its meetings are held the fourth Friday of each month.
