Fallbrook High fight results in lockdown, student arrests

Several Fallbrook High School students were arrested, and the school was placed on lockdown after a fight broke out on campus Friday morning.

San Diego County sheriff’s deputies responded at 10:25 a.m. to a call reporting a disturbance between two groups of students at the high school, according to sheriff’s Sgt. William Munsch.

More than 20 students were involved in a fight near the school cafeteria, deputies were told.

The students participating in the fight were separated and detained once law enforcement was able to arrive on campus, Munsch said, and the school was immediately locked down.

Paramedics evaluated some of the students and staff for minor injuries and complaints of pain.

Multiple students were arrested and taken to a juvenile detention facility for charges ranging from probation violation to battery on a school official, according to Munsch.

The school’s lockdown was lifted around 12:30 p.m., and deputies were providing extra patrol after school Friday afternoon.

Principal Dr. Narciso Iglesias announced late in the day that tomorrow night's Morp Dance would be canceled.

"We are canceling the Morp Dance scheduled for tomorrow evening," Dr. Iglesias' statement read. "Also, please monitor your child's social media and alert us of any concerns. If your child needs support, counselors will be available Monday morning.

"We apologize for any inconvenience, but student safety is our priority. All money will be refunded."

The incident remained under investigation, and the sheriff’s department asked that anyone with information call the Fallbrook sheriff’s substation at (760) 451-3100.
