Warriors girls basketball head into second half of league season

Fallbrook Union High School’s Varsity Girls Basketball head coach Jessica Ramirez has the Warriors in third place in the Valley League with a 2-2 record and 13-8 record on the season.

Last week was a tough one for the Warriors, however, as they suffered two league losses after starting the Valley League season 2-0.

The Warriors took an early 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter on the road against Mission Vista on Friday, Jan. 24, but the Warriors’ offense sputtered the rest of the way, falling 65-42.

That loss came on the heels of a tough 64-56 loss at home to San Pasqual on Tuesday, Jan. 21. The Warriors led the Eagles 30-26 at the half, but the visitors came out firing in the second half, putting up 19 points in each of the game’s final two frames to outscore the Warriors.

Prior to that, the Warriors rode a 19-point second quarter to beat Morse 43-34 on Jan. 18, easily thrashed Ramona 70-38 in a league away game a day earlier, and cruised to a 68-24 win over Maranatha Christian at home on Jan. 16.

The Warriors opened Valley League play with a 52-20 road win over Escondido on Jan. 14.

They will take on the Cougars again at home at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31, and then stay home again to battle Ramona at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, and travel to Valley Center Friday, Feb. 7.
