A fire on Camp Pendleton was causing visible smoke in and around Fallbrook Thursday afternoon.

The North County Fire Protection District tweeted around 3 p.m. that a fire on the base was not a threat to the local area, despite smoke drifting into Fallbrook skies.

Fires on Camp Pendleton have caused smoke to drift off-base multiple times over the last few weeks; North County Fire has issued statements about smoke on the Marine Corps base at least three times since the beginning of June.
