Murphy & Murphy Southern California Realty will host their sixth annual fundraiser for the

Fallbrook Food Pantry beginning Friday, Aug. 21. This year, they will be changing the usual format in order to adhere to the regulations from the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is called, "The Endless Summer," and it is being held for a period of nine days. It will include a golf tournament Aug. 21, Zoom dinner parties Aug. 21, 22, 28 and 29, as well as an online auction from Aug. 21-29.

The Zoom dinner parties will be held in the homes of individuals who sign up and purchase a party, and eight people can participate in each party. Two local restaurants are catering this event in the homes of the participants, 127 West Social House and SmallTown. The restaurants are providing professional servers to serve the food and wine at each home at no additional cost. The restaurants are paid a minimal fee for making, delivering and serving the food, but the wine is all donated and a large portion of the money made from the sale goes directly to the food pantry.

The online auction consists of approximately 100 items that have all been donated by local residents. These prizes include great trips, dining experiences and activities, as well as items for the home. Their goal for the fundraiser is to raise $150,000 for the Fallbrook Food Pantry in order to help serve the less fortunate. Seven years ago, the food pantry reached out to Chris and Kim Murphy in the hopes that they could help the pantry purchase a building that they had been renting.

After realizing that the food pantry was not in the financial position to purchase a building, the Realtors decided they were going to help out in any way they could.

Kim Murphy said, "Food should never be something that any of us should be insecure about, and yet currently over 5,300 individuals in Fallbrook receive food from the food pantry each month. We realized we wanted to become their partners. We wanted to do whatever we could to help them do what they do."

It inspired them to start holding an annual fundraiser to raise money and show their support for the food pantry.

In 2019, Murphy & Murphy Southern California Realty was able to help the food pantry purchase a building, which was their initial goal for the partnership. Now, the goals have changed.

"It's not just about the food that is needed and distributed each month, it's about helping people learn how to eat healthy and cook healthy. The Fallbrook Food Pantry is planning to build a teaching kitchen from the proceeds we raise this year." Murphy said.

Even as the event grows every year, the needs in Fallbrook also grow. For this reason, the goals have also changed and evolved to help the residents of Fallbrook as well.

Murphy said, "The food pantry's quote is '...because when you're hungry, nothing else matters.' For us, the ability to help feed people is the most basic of acts we can do to help others. It is recorded multiple times where Jesus fed people before He spoke to them. We're just trying to follow His example."

It was another part of the inspiration to help contribute to the growth and development of the Fallbrook Food Pantry.

There are many ways to get involved and help contribute to the Fallbrook Food Pantry through the "Endless Summer" fundraiser. Murphy said that anyone interested can "Become a title sponsor, purchase a Zoom dinner party, put together a golf foursome, participate in the online auction or simply donate to the fundraiser."

All will help contribute to the food pantry and help them reach their new goals.
