Ninth annual Fallbrook Scarecrow Days starts Oct. 1

FALLBROOK – Residents have been observed that scarecrows are gathering and discussing what they will wear and what to bring to the ninth annual Fallbrook Scarecrow Days – Oct. 1-31.

Businesses and residents are encouraged to display scarecrows to help promote tourism and business. Fallbrook Scarecrow Days is one event that everyone can participate in and maintain their social distancing.

Along with the Silent People and Pumpkin Heads, the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a scarecrow contest again this year. The categories include Artistic Merit, Funniest/Humor, Kids, Promoting Business, Pop Culture, Reuse/Reuse/Recycle and WOW.

For inspiration, watch Jean Benson’s video of last year’s scarecrows and the winners on YouTube at Fallbrook Scarecrow Days 2019, https://youtu.be/LdKLivh5i0. If not entering, register your scarecrow at the chamber to get on the visitor’s list for viewing. Plans also include a fall fun section for children coming in September.

Although there will be no one-to-one workshops this year, help is available to build your own scarecrow. Basic frames, kits and accessories can be purchased from the ScareCREW at 300 N. Brandon Road, Suite 8, by appointment only.

To make a paper maché head, check out Vickie George’s video on YouTube – Scarecrow Maché Head, https://youtu.be/gSxd2zNT5Ww.

More information can be found and will routinely be updated at the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce, http://fallbrookchamberofcommerce.org.
