Sheriff's Department investigates assault with deadly weapon in Fallbrook

Sheriff's deputies are investigating a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in Fallbrook Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Elder and Orange streets. Deputies were at the scene as of about 2:30 p.m.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department could not immediately confirm the circumstances of the incident, how many people may have been injured, or the severity of those injuries. However, witnesses said one person was taken in ambulance.
