Parkinson's Support Group to learn about COVID-19 vaccine

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Parkinson’s Support group will resume meeting virtually this month, Friday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. via Zoom, after a brief pause during the 2020 holiday season.

Guest speakers David Higgins, Ph.D., and Dr. David Miles will talk about “COVID-19 Vaccine – Warp Speed: What you need to know.”

Higgins is the coordinator of the University of California San Diego Parkinson’s Support Group Network. He earned his Ph.D. in molecular biology and genetics from the University of Rochester followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute. For 15 years, he worked in the biotech industry with positions at Invitrogen, Chiron, Idun and BioMedica.

Higgins currently serves as a member of the governing board for the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine and is a member of the Public Policy Committee at the Michael J. Fox Foundation. He has a family history of Parkinson’s disease including his mother, uncle, grandmother and great-uncle. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2011.

This meeting is held in support of persons with Parkinson’s disease, care partners and people interested in improving the world of those affected by Parkinson’s disease. There is no cost associated with this Zoom meeting.
