San Diego County now vaccinating healthcare workers, residents over age 65

San Diego County has now administered nearly 200,000 coronavirus vaccinations, and more than 30,000 people, about 1% of the county’s population, have received both doses of the vaccine as of Jan. 21, but there are no locations to get vaccinated in the Fallbrook area as of yet.

San Diego County is currently vaccinating virtually all healthcare workers, and expanded vaccinations to all residents over the age of 65 on Jan. 23.

The Fallbrook Regional Health District said last week it was working with its partner, North County Fire Protection District, to establish vaccination sites in Fallbrook. The health district said updates will be posted to its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/FallbrookHealthDistrict) and its website (https://www.fallbrookhealth.org).

San Diego County is offering vaccinations at two “super stations,” one in downtown San Diego and one in Chula Vista, as well as at healthcare partners and community locations. The closest community vaccination site to Fallbrook is currently in Escondido. A new location in Oceanside opened Sunday, Jan. 24.

Those eligible for vaccinations must make an appointment; those without an appointment will be turned away, according to the county. Appointments can be made at vaccinationsuperstationsd.com.
