Fallbrook is the greatest community

It has been 50 years since my husband Russ and I settled in Fallbrook after too many moves during almost 30 years of military life. We found that Fallbrook was a great place to live and its residents are wonderful people.

But I didn’t know the extent of that wise decision until my 90th birthday party which was to be a drive by organized by my family to help celebrate that achievement with friends and family during COVID-19.

As it happened, I sat in my cart waving to lots of wonderful Fallbrookians while wearing a neck brace following an auto accident. That day was a joyful, overwhelming experience.

While the too slow recuperation period has been happening, I have received so many wonderful cards and gifts of fun things to keep me entertained, food to give me strength and beautiful flowers and plants that you all know I love. But the ultimate card arrived yesterday. A beautiful birthday card with no return address on the envelope but signed with a flourish “Thank you for all you do, All Fallbrook Citizens.” My response was “It is my pleasure.”

I am so grateful that we found a place to call my forever hometown. There are so many wonderful people here, who really care about each other. I am truly grateful to have you all as my friends. I promise this and hope you will too, I will never forget what the Friendly Village really means. That is caring and working together to make our unincorporated community the best small town ever. Keep it close and personal. See you on the street.
