Pedestrian struck, killed by train in Encinitas

ENCINITAS (CNS) - A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train at the Chesterfield Drive crossing in Encinitas Monday afternoon, deputies said.

It happened about 3 p.m., and North County Transit District train service was suspended, San Diego County Sheriff's Department Lt. Pat McEvoy said.

Chesterfield Drive also was closed following the incident.

No information on the victim's identity was immediately available.
