Bonsall Woman's Club holds art festival

BONSALL – The Bonsall Woman's Club members always look forward to displaying their talents in the annual Palomar District Art Festival. When this year's art festival was canceled due to COVID-19, the BWC decided to hold their own art festival as part of their March 4 monthly Zoom meeting.

There were 31 entries shown as part of the program entitled "Unmasking Our Creativity." This first-ever virtual BWC art contest and show mirrored what would have been held at the district level. At the conclusion of each category, members were able to vote for Best of Show honors in each of the four categories: photography, fine arts, crafts and creative writing. The BWC announced the winners.

For photography, Cheri Poulos won for "Sailing the San Blas Islands" and Marleen DuBona won for "Myrtle Gate." There was a tie in this category so both entries were recognized.

In fine arts, Arlene Fliegler was recognized for "Gheppetto."

In crafts, Bev York won for "Stormy."

In creative writing, Patty Merriam was honored for "Unmasking 2021."

Winners each received a $50 cash prize from a club member/sponsor.

The club will hold a spring fundraiser Friday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the lower level of Z Café in Bonsall River Village. Residents can purchase a special gift for mothers or special friends at the fundraiser event. Mother's Day is Sunday, May 9, so there will be many gift items, flowering plants, spring wreaths, jewelry and craft items, to name just a few.
