Speaker to give update on county Climate Action Plan

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Climate Action Team will present a talk about San Diego County's Climate Plan Update Tuesday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. Tyler Farmer, a planning manager with the Sustainability Planning Division of Planning & Development Services of San Diego County, will speak.

Farmer works on the implementation of the 2018 Climate Action Plan, the Climate Action Plan Update and the clean transportation program. He has 14 years of experience working with sustainability-related issues ranging from design, construction, project approvals and long-range planning. The discussion will include hearing input from the public.

The county said it is committed to creating a Climate Action Plan that serves the community and our mission to protect the public's health and safety, sustain the environment and improve the quality of life for residents. It is currently in the portion of the project timeline which is capturing greenhouse gas emissions statistics. There are five sectors to the Climate Action Plan: built environment and transportation, waste and wastewater, agriculture and conservation, energy and solid waste. The CAP reduces greenhouse gas emissions emissions by promoting alternative transportation, creating green jobs, improving public health, diverting waste from landfills, conserving open space and more.

FCAT presents monthly presentations about climate change and mitigation, usually on the last Tuesday of the month on Zoom. To receive the link, sign up for the group's eblast on the website http://fallbrookclimateactionteam.org.
