Wings of Change works with Boy Scouts to beautify community garden

FALLBROOK – Stephanie Holbrook, founder of Wings of Change and assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 731, organized a cleanup April 3 at the Fallbrook Community Garden with a few local scouts. With the help of two Boy Scouts, one Cub Scout and one Eagle Scout parent, they were able to eradicate invasive weeds and make the entrance to the garden look more aesthetically pleasing, as well as clear an area to allow for more parking spaces.

Attendees Mikey Regner from Troop 731, Caroline Regner from Troop 700, Charlie Regner from Pack 787 and Mike Regner of Eagle Scout Troop 59 helped Holbrook beautify the community garden so more people will have the opportunity to enjoy it.

The community garden gives Fallbrook residents a place to grow their own food and work closely with nature, even if they may not have space to garden at their homes. They can visit the community garden and lease a plot of land to take care of and grow crops of their choosing. The cleanup work also will allow visitors and gardeners to park their cars in a safer manner.

Wings of Change and the Mission Resource Conservation District recognized Mikey, Caroline, Charlie and Mike Regner for helping to clear weeds, pick up trash and create five to six new parking spaces to allow more visitors to events held there.

Anyone interested in volunteering at the Fallbrook Community garden can contact Holbrook for more information, [email protected].
