Theatre Talk for the month of May

May will not only bring flowers but the reopening of The Moonlight Amphitheatre featuring concerts and movie nights.

Opening the lineup is "The Music of Woodstock" on Friday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. "The Who's Who of the San Diego music scene will celebrate these legends...featuring some of the greatest hits from that time period."

May 22 is Disney's "Toy Story" followed on May 23 by "The Magical Music of Disney" a live performance, then back to the movie on May 28 for "Karate Kid."

Roustabout Theatre is streaming Katori Hall's "The Mountain Top" on May 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and 16. Check for exact times when purchasing tickets.

It is a fictional story. This reimagined tale about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s last night is presented in affiliation with The American History Theater, The Roustabouts Theatre, and Teenage Youth Performing Arts Company. Go to wwwtheroustabouts.org for details and tickets.

"Einstein Comes Through" is playing at North Coast Rep through May 23. This charming tale is told with humor covering a vast array of topics. A one act play written by Mark Silver and David Ellenstein, it features Jake Broder as Mr. Einstein. For tickets go to www.northcoastrep.org.

Streaming until May 16 is "Lit, a Virtual Musical for Families" which is a comprehensive, all-inclusive performance "for the whole family." I have not seen Blindspot productions before so don't know anything more than what the press release says. Visit Blindspot Collective for more details. Tickets start at $15.

San Diego Musical Theatre is running a 30-day musical concert fundraiser called "Juke Box Hero" including tunes as far back as the forties and venturing forward into rock 'n' roll including tunes from "Moulin Rouge," "The Cher Show," and even a little "Mamma Mia" thrown in for good measure.
