FALLBROOK – Encore is a social club through which many members have met treasured friends. Most of the members first joined the Newcomers Club, where they remained for 3-4 years before they "flew up" to Encore, a sister organization. Activities at both clubs often include the men, many of whom have also formed close friendships. Now that Covid restrictions are moderating, everyone is really looking forward to a return to a more normal life.
In the month of May, Bunco, Mahjong and Hand and Foot will be played in person instead via Zoom. The club activity planners, Terry Derry and Cheryl Hurley, have been working overtime and with great creativity to keep the club going in spite of lock-down edicts and such. An Encore unspoken motto is "Fun is where you find it"....attitude is everything, especially during the tough times.
A private Wine Tasting event for Encore members, is being held at Myrtle Creek Winery on May 28, 3-5:30 p.m. outdoors, in support of the Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary. The event will be closed to the public but open to members with a reservation. Those attending are encouraged to bring items needed at the sanctuary, or make a donation to FAS at the event. A list of the many items needed and information to make reservations can be found in the Club Newsletter. Many club members and others in the community volunteer or give financial support to this wonderful organization and the bundles of love they rescue!
The next general meeting will be held on Zoom one last time on May 4 at 10 a.m. and the regular monthly coffee meetings will resume in-person June 1 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1620 Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook. This will be a happy time to enjoy good friends again and to also meet many new members. The club is growing and great events and activities will be back on the calendar.
A new Executive Board has been elected for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. Most of the current board will continue to serve in some capacity, with the addition of new Co-Presidents Karen Feyler and Jan Hohenstein, for which members are grateful. Finally, a beautiful Luau Luncheon will be held in the Sun Room at Pala Mesa Resort on June 17. Seating is still limited and it is sure to be a popular event. Reservations with payment and menu selection should be sent to Carol Shrider, 1762 Arbolita Ln, Fallbrook 92028 as soon as possible.
The Encore Club will be dark during July and August for summertime, but enthusiastically rolling again come September. Membership is open to all in the Fallbrook, Rainbow, DeLuz and Bonsall communities.
