Toby Keith rocks sold-out crowd at Pala Casino

Special to The Village News

Pala Casino hosted country super-star Toby Keith in his sold-out performance last Friday night.

The standing room only crowd never found their seats from the first strum of his guitar to his final bow.

Singing hits from his decades long career, Keith knocked the speakers out singing his first big hit "Should A Been A Cowboy" as it thundered over the audience. More hits followed like "Red Solo Cup," "Who's Your Daddy," "Beer For My Horses," and my all time favorite "I'm Not As Good As I Once Was."

From the oil fields of Oklahoma to the Academy of Country Music Awards, 6'3" Keith fills the stage embracing his music with heart and humor. He doesn't apologize for being patriotic. Furthermore, Keith urges everyone to celebrate being American.

With a bit of aw-shucks wrapped around a country drawl, this self-proclaimed Okie has an extraordinary songwriting talent that tells it like it is. He's old country. He sings from his heart. He entertains the troops. And "he's proud to be an American." What's not to like?

Toby Keith rocks.
