Bonsall Schoolhouse opens for open house

BONSALL – On Wednesday, Sept. 8, the Bonsall Unified School District and the Bonsall Education Foundation hosted a private open house of the historic Bonsall Schoolhouse. The renovation of the building is nearing completion and this past summer brought exciting changes to the site itself.

DG pathways with a solidifier were installed, as were two bioswales to capture rain and run-off. Beautiful boulders were arranged in several areas for seating, three new live oak trees were planted, mulched areas were created for future planting and a new fence was added.

The Bonsall Education Foundation recognized Weston Barnes from WestPro Landscape and Scott Hamilton of Hamilton Design Group; Hamilton created a beautiful landscape plan that had special outdoor learning spaces for students and Barnes made it into a beautiful reality. KRC Rock, J&W Lumber and Fencing Specialties Inc. partnered with the foundation and made substantial donations to honor the schoolhouse's historic past.

And last but not least, none of these restoration efforts would be possible without the Bonsall Woman's Club. In June, they donated another $25,300 for the restoration of the schoolhouse. BWC is the schoolhouse's biggest champion and is much appreciated for their patronage.

With completion of these outdoor efforts, the Bonsall Schoolhouse, established in 1895, is now a true landmark.
