Aviara Trio to perform in an engaging afternoon of music

FALLBROOK – It's been several years since Fallbrook has hosted the Aviara Trio, an exciting ensemble that has made an indelible impression on the musical landscape of Southern California for the past decade. Presented by Fallbrook Music Society, the trio returns to Fallbrook on Sunday, Oct. 24.

"This concert will offer our audience a program that promises to be engaging with works by three of classical music's favorite composers – Brahms, Shostakovich and Schubert," said Bob Freaney, president of Fallbrook Music Society.

The Aviara Trio brings one of the highest levels of perfection and expression to the perfect combination of instruments: pianist Ines Irawati, cellist Erin Breene and violinist Robert Schumitzky. This group has earned enormous praise for its performances, and strives to engage, exchange and connect with audiences, and will offer a lively Q and A session following the performance.

Known for her expressivity, virtuosity and versatility, Irawati is in demand both as a solo recitalist and a collaborative pianist. Born in Indonesia, she began piano and composition instruction at age 6. At age 12, she made her official debut playing Beethoven and Chopin with the Indonesian Youth Symphony. Irawati is currently enjoying a richly varied performance career, excelling in solo performance, chamber music, collaborative piano and operatic vocal coaching.

Violinist Breene is in great demand as both a chamber and orchestral musician, and is currently a member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Long Beach Opera Orchestra. She performs regularly with the Pacific Symphony and the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, and has served as Principal Cellist with the Opera Pacific Orchestra.

Schumitzky performs on the "Ex-Halir" Stradivarius made in 1694. This violin is named after its most prominent owner, Karl Halir, and has played in many concerts over its lifetime, including those in the 1800's with Tchaikovsky conducting. He is a member of the First Violin Section of Pacific Symphony and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He currently holds the Concertmaster position of the Long Beach Opera Orchestra and performs regularly with the San Diego Symphony. Schumitzky is an active chamber musician and has performed around the world, including in the great concert halls of Vienna, Cologne, Munich, Tokyo, and Carnegie Hall in New York.

Tickets for this performance are free for all concertgoers, and no tickets are required. Donations are always welcome to help support the music society's tradition of delivering excellence in live music performances to Fallbrook and its surrounding communities.

The concert will be held at 3 p.m. in Fallbrook's historic Mission Theater, 231 North Main Ave. Social hour at the theater begins at 2 p.m. and the auditorium doors open at 2:30 p.m. For more information, go to fallbrookmusicsociety.org, or call 760-451-8644.
